To me, being a tourist guide is more than just a profession; it's a calling. I've held the title of a qualified tourist guide since 1994 and have proudly served as the Secretary General of the Lebanese Tourist Guides Union since 2018.
I embarked on this journey as a guide during a time when Lebanon was experiencing a tourism resurgence, fueled by the curiosity and determination of the Lebanese people themselves. In 1992, after enduring 17 years of conflict, they yearned to explore their own homeland, a nation still marked by divisions, with many knowing only their own residential regions. Armed with a degree in Tourism Sciences, I felt a deep commitment to assisting these travelers. This led me to pursue and complete my Tourist Guide diploma.
Today, I have the privilege of guiding both small and large groups of tourists across Lebanon. With every step, I share my profound passion for my country, its rich history, and vibrant culture. Each site we visit holds its unique charm, but even after all these years, I remain awe-inspired by the magnificence of Baalbeck. My connection to Lebanon's cedars and the Qadisha valley, with its 800 monasteries and hermitages, runs deep. This valley holds immense significance for Eastern Christians, and I often accompany groups on religious pilgrimages. In the summer months, I'm actively engaged in the village of Bekaa Kafra, the birthplace of Saint Charbel, which also happens to be my husband's hometown.
For me, being a tourist guide is more than a profession; it's a sacred mission. I'm on a quest to showcase the historical, religious, and touristic significance of my beloved Lebanon to the world. Lebanon has a way of touching the hearts of those who visit. Often, within the groups I guide, emotions run high, and some find it hard to part with this captivating land. Many promise to return, a testament to the lasting impact of Lebanon's beauty and charm.
